Airports
The two country houses of La Mia Toscana are located on the hills of the province of Pisa, only 1, ½ km away from each other, both 40 km from Pisa Airport and 80 km from Florence Airport

Train
The nearest train station is in Pontedera (the train stop is called “Pontedera-Casciana Terme”), only 18 km.

Bus
Form Pontedera bus station in front of the train station you can take a bus to the nearest village called La Rosa spending 2 euro one-way. By bus you can reach Volterra spending 2,80 euro one way. In weekdays and on Saturdays runs are regular during the day.

Spa
Spa centre is only at 15 km in Casciana Terme. Open everyday all day, Sunday only in the morning.

Cheese factories, pasta factories, wineries, olive mills, truffles products factories, pasta factories, pastry and chocolate workshops. Pls ask for a guided visit and tasting.

Especially in the weekends: May cherry festival in Lari, June strawberry festival in Terricciola, September wine festival in Terricciola, July/August many medieval and food festivals in Volterra, September quarters festival of Peccioli, November truffle festival in San Miniato, and many more.

Car, Taxi or Bus?
We always suggest to hire a car if you want to travel round and visit places. The two houses are in the countryside, on top of a hill. Shops and restaurants are easily reachable by car and this is the best way to spend your time in this area, especially for longer periods of time. A car/minivan can be rented at the airports of Pisa and Florence and also from Pontedera train station. Just ask us and we can book it for you.
We can also book a taxi service for your transfers.

If you have a car, don’t forget to keep the lights on when driving on motorways and highways. The blue parking spaces are upon payment of a fee, the white ones are free, but some white parking places in big cities such as Pisa or Florence can be reserved for the residents. (It. “riservato ai residenti”)

Bikes and Scooters
If you don’t feel comfortable driving a car, we are happy to help you in renting bikes and scooters, and even the fashion vespa mopeds. We can also book a chauffeured car for your transfers.

Museums
If you wish to visit museums in Florence, like the Uffizi, David by Michelangelo, Medici Chapels, Boboli Garden etc..or in Pisa and its Leaning Tower, S. Matteo museum, Cathedral etc.., we suggest you to book at least 3 days in advance. We can book it for you.

Supermarkets
The nearest Supermarket is Coop in La Rosa, just 3 km away and it’s open from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm, and on Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm.
Another Supermarket close by is in Capannoli, called Conad, 10 km away. Open from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm.
Fresh bread on Sunday morning is to find in Selvatelle, 5 km away Panificio il Moro.
In Pontedera and in the other villages around you will find many little food shops open from 8 to 1 and from 4 to 8.

Restaurants
The restaurants of the farm house are only open if the minimum number of guests is reached.
There are about 10 restaurants close by within a distance of 10 km. The closest is in La Rosa, 3 km. you will find very simple and genuine restaurants, traditional pizzerias, Tuscan modern style restaurants.
